The Phoenix Partnership managed the pre-launch and launch communications of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from the project’s inception in 2000. During the 18-month construction phase, we worked closely with CTICC leadership, City and Provincial governments, tourism stakeholders and the media as we deployed an impactful education campaign focused on business tourism. The CTICC’s launch in 2003 involved extensive media management, the development of a crisis communications plan and the management of presidential protocol for the official launch event hosted for 7,000 VIP guests.
In 2012 we were reappointed to manage communications in support of the CTICC’s expansion project, which included an element of proactive reputation management. In 2013 we were again called upon to assist the CTICC’s internal communications team with media relations in support of the CTICC’s 10th birthday celebration. And since 2018 we have been providing content services to the CTICC in the form of media releases, advertorials, the CEO’s speeches, profiling of the CEO via social media, annual reports and other documentation editing, proof-reading and formatting, as well as reputation- and crisis-management advice.
